What is your opinion of this poem " A dream within a dream' by Edgar Allan Poe?

This sounds to me as though he is trying to tightly grasp onto hope before it slips away. Poe was a dark and tormented man at times, and fought melancholy throughout his life. He never really became famous until after his death. I think he would be very surprised ( and encouraged) to know that his work and the name, Edgar Allan Poe has lived on.
