Is it a coincidence the US public schools are a mess, and we have virtually no industry?

zero innovation out the US over the past 25 years. the only bright spot is the computer industry, and some medical innovations......but for the most part, we push paper, and our schools produce illiterate workers. how long before we recognize the real problem----our education system.
